My amazing week

This week has been absolutely amazing!

On Friday night I flew to LA. I’ve been spending every day with my sister, dad, and stepmom. Every day has been a new adventure!

Yesterday, my dad, my sister, and I took a trip to a desolate place called Salton Sea. The Salton Sea is the largest body of water in all of California. It was created by a fluke, with an aqueduct from the Colorado River. When this body of water was created, businessmen took it and turned it into a vacation spot, building real estate and tourism businesses. However, the water turned extremely salty and all the fish began to die.

People fled, leaving behind their homes and in some cases, possessions.

When we arrived, we felt like we were looking at a post-apocalyptic world; beat-up old houses, abandoned about 40 years ago, some still filled with their original furniture, others completely barren. After driving as close to the sea as possible, my dad set up the video cameras and we decided it was time to make a music video. I sat on a rock directly next to the Salton Sea as I sang a new song I finished writing last Wednesday titled, “Smile At Me.”

After the song was recorded, my sister and I went around exploring the desolate wasteland together. However, even after seeing these amazingly ransacked homes, the most breathtaking thing of all was yet to come: the sunset. The most beautiful display of reds, oranges, pinks, purples, and some blues illuminated the sky.

We all took pictures until it was so dark we could barely see the ground beneath our feet. When we returned to the car, we embarked on the three-and-a-half-hour-long journey back home.

Today, my dad and I ran around LA finding different locations to film another video for a different song. This song, entitled “How Things Work,” is much different than my other songs for a reason all of you will discover when you watch the video and hear the song. So, our first location was Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook, which gave us a wide view of a part of Los Angeles from pretty high up. Our next location was Venice Beach. We started our video shoot in an alley way and then moved to the boardwalk. We then took a lunch break at a personal favorite of mine, Tito’s Tacos. With our bellies full, we were back on the road headed to the harbor in San Pedro. It was pretty cold and windy when we got there, but the warehouse we filmed in front of was a great background.
