Here is my first-ever official music video! I wrote the song in the video about three weeks ago. It’s about a player-type guy who needs a “reality check.” The video was filmed last Tuesday, by my father, at three separate locations in Los Angeles.
The first location was the Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook. On Tuesday, the average temperature in L.A. was 54 degrees with medium winds, making it really feel about 49 degrees.
My first outfit of the day was a short-sleeved shirt and jean shorts. Luckily, I had brought a jean jacket with me and wore that for the majority of the shots taken at the Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook. Well, I can tell you honestly, it’s called the “scenic overlook” for a reason! This was one of the most beautiful views of Los Angeles I have ever seen.
After getting all the shots we wanted, my dad and I headed to our second location: Venice Beach. We were looking for a kinda grungy look, hoping to get that in some alleyways near the beach. When we entered the first alleyway, we noticed the graffiti that we expected to see all over the walls had been cleaned up! Apparently, after all these years, the Venice Beach clean-up committee has finally taken action. So, we found a single dumpster with a good amount of graffiti on it and shot a little in front of that. Then we got a few shots on the boardwalk and we were out of there! It was much windier on the beach than at the Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook.
Dad and I stopped for lunch at one of my favorite restaurants in L.A., Tito’s Tacos. After a high quality lunch like that, I was ready to film again! We headed to the Port of Los Angeles in San Pedro for our third and final location. The Port is a huge harbor, one of the busiest seaports in the world. Unfortunately, the fact that it’s located on a body of water did not make the temperature any more comfortable than it was on the beach. Around the harbor itself are several warehouses, and Dad and I decided they would make pretty cool backgrounds for the video. So, we shot what we wanted in front of the warehouses and were back in the beautifully warm car again.
So, now that you know how the video was filmed and what it’s about, I hope you enjoy my first ever music video and share it with as many people as possible!
